The title is not to get clicks or visitors; I’m using this method to rank low and medium competition keywords in Google on page one and two.
You might have heard of Parasite SEO on different SEO blogs and forums, SEOs used to rank web 2.0s for their target keywords for traffic and sales because it was easy to rank parasites because of their authority they had. But spam changed the game, and most of them lost trust because Blackhat spammers spammed these properties hard. But still many of them are alive, and you can rank them with little link building. Some powerful parasites are Facebook, Youtube, Google Docs, Google Maps, Craigslist, Pinterest and Reddit.
But I felt that Reddit has the ultimate authority among other web 2.0s because I ranked it without any link building. It has supreme authority because Reddit has lots of good posts, its fast content update speed, backlinks, it allows posting in subdirectory instead of subdomain and the most important thing is strict moderation process. Highly moderated parasites always have good authority, for example, Wikipedia, Reddit and Youtube, but one should do Youtube SEO to make his videos #1 in Google and Youtube itself.
In this post I’ll share a method to create and rank subreddits and how can you get most of the traffic from it by using some Blackhat methods (Not recommended for long term rankings).
Where to use SubReddits?
- For event based blogs.
- To get gobs of traffic.
- To rank instantly.
Reddit doesn’t trust on new Redditors; that’s why it doesn’t allow new account holders to create a subreddit. You need to earn some link and comment karmas to get some trust in Reddit. I’m not talking about collecting hundreds or thousands of links karmas, 10 or 20 will also work to create a subreddit.
If you create subreddit with new account, you’ll get this message when you’ll press create button:
Here are few tips to gain karma, you can try these.
If you’re not successful in getting Karmas then you can buy well-established Reddit accounts on Fiverr or contact this guy, he sold me 2 Reddit accounts in $5 with minimum 30 Karmas. Those accounts were eligible for subreddit creation.
How to Create SubReddit?
So, let’s start the guide to create subreddit:
1: Login to your Reddit account and open this link to create. Or you can open any active subreddit and find an option to “Create your own Reddit” in the right sidebar of the website.
2: Now you need to fill the form on the next page. Below are some instructions to fill the subreddit creation form:
Name: It should include your keyword, and it will be part of the URL/permalink of your subreddit.
Title: Add title here with your focused keyword in it and make it look natural.
Description: Add compelling description here just like you write a description of your blog posts and pages and include you primary keyword in it and add long tail and LSI keywords too. For event blog, you can spam it hard with hundreds of keywords, I use Long Tail Pro for better keyword suggestions, but you can have some badass keyword research tools in this post.
Sidebar: It will show up in the right sidebar of your subreddit, add keywords here too or you can paste the same description(Mentioned above) in this field.
Update: You can also get a Dofollow backlink from its sidebar. Reddit doesn’t allow dofollow links but you can have one from your subreddit, it’s a D.A 98 website.
Submission Text: Leave this field empty.
Type: Restricted; so nobody else will be able to publish in your subreddit without moderation.
Other fields: Keep them default.
Press “Create” button and you’re done.
P.S: I chose a spammy event niche and pasted keyword stuffed description in the above example. You can do it for quality niches too with better quality content.
Now, what’s next? Usually, we start adding content after the creation of a new website, blog or web 2.0, we’re going to do the same here. Add some useful links and text posts before it gets indexed by crawler. But all content must be relevant for better rankings.
So I added one text post, but you should also add some link posts in it. SEOs submit their subreddits’ links in different places to make them index faster in Google, but I don’t do anything, and Google itself indexes subreddit in an hour usually. It can take a bit more time, but don’t worry it will get indexed soon. If not, then build few links or submit it to Google.
After getting indexed by Google and other search engines, you’ll see it ranking well for targeted keywords. Start adding links to your website in subreddit to get high-quality traffic. This method to get traffic is long term and recommended for long term websites and high-quality subreddits don’t get banned soon.
Now let’s discuss a secret method to get traffic by Hijacking your subreddit page.
Note: This method is short term, and your Reddit account will be banned for doing this because it is against their terms and conditions. But you’ll get lots of visitors with it.
What are we going to do?
We’ll edit our well-ranked subreddit’s CSS and will add some code to it, by doing this we’ll get lots of clicks because this CSS is just like a clickjacking script and no matter where your visitor clicks on subreddit he will be redirected to your website.
How to do this?
1: Go to your subreddit and click on “Submit a new link” and put your website link there and click “Submit”. Now you can see your website’s link on top of all posts under your subreddit; approve it.
2: Now again go to your newly created subreddit and from the right sidebar, click on “edit stylesheet”. It will open the panel where you can edit CSS of subreddit.
3: Now download the below file with clickjacking CSS code and replace “Your Website Link Here” with your website’s URL. and click on “Save” button.

Now go to your subreddit and check it, you’ll see a page like in the below image with your website’s link on it.
Few more Tips to Rank Subreddit:
You can rank subreddits even for highly competitive keywords by doing the below things:
Build backlinks to it, below are few types of backlinks you can create:
- Web 2.0s
- Profile Links
- Video sharing sites
- Image sharing sites
- GSA Spam (Reddit has the capability to bear spam, so spam it hard).
You can also send social signals along with backlinks for better rankings.
Important: I’ve noticed that spammy subreddits don’t stick for long in Google, so better to spam subreddit only on events, don’t spam it if you want to rank in long term.
